Knowing about world long jump record
The world has always been fascinated by sports and athletic events. There are many great sportsmen, athletes and gymnasts also who have taken the world by storm. There are many types of such events on the field including high jump and long jump. The long jump is one of the most fascinating and painstaking field and track events, for the audience to view as for the participants to fulfill. It involves the speed, skill and agility of the athlete to leap to the farthest point possible from the starting place. It is a good combination of the physical prowess, energy levels and mental determination of the athlete. There have been some of people who have attempted this form of long jump and been successful as well.
In the long jump record for men, Mike Powell can be credited with the highest long jump world record in 1991. When it comes to the women, the name that comes to mind is the Galina Chistyakova who has the long jump record. There are some basic prerequisites to be followed when it comes to having a good record at long jump. It is one of the toughest track and field events which require an athlete to put his physical prowess, strength, speed and stamina at best and optimum usage. The long jump is also called broad jump. This is one of the toughest events in the sports arena. It involves the competitors sprinting down a runaway which is also known as the all weather track. Then they leap to the longest point possible from the wooden board which is annexed with the runaway and eight inches wide and built into a pit filled with sand or gavel. The all weather track is coated with vulcanized rubber.
An official invigilator of the event watches each athlete making the jump and declares whether it is a hit or a miss. Each competitor is provided with a set number of trials. There are actually three turns for the event for each participant. It is fascinating to watch indeed but imagine the hard labor put in by each of the participants and the tensions involved. However there have been people in both men and women’s categories who have held the long jump world record but admittedly these names are very few and far in between for this event.
